Clive Elsdon is an Architectural Designer with 25 years experience in the industry.
Clive first began working for an Architectural Practice in the North East of England in 1986 after a period as a volunteer in the Estates Department of Bishop Auckland General Hospital. Whilst working he trained as an Architectural Technician at Redcar Technical College where he gained an ONC in Building Studies (1988) and then Teesside Polytecnic (now Teesside University) where he gained an HNC, also in Building Studies (1990). Before setting up Clive Elsdon Building Design, Clive worked for various Architect’s Practices in the North East, South East and South West of England as well as in the in-house design departments of a large North East Brewery and a Design & Build Contractor.
Clive has considerable experience with Autodesk‘s AutoCAD product, having used it since 1990 to prepare drawings for Planning Applications, Building Regulation Submissions and Construction Drawings. In October 1994 Clive was awarded the City & Guilds Qualification in “Computer Aided Draughting and Design using AutoCAD“, this was followed in July 1995 with the “Three Dimensional Design using AutoCAD” and in September 1995 with the “AutoCAD Customisation & System Management” Gity & Guilds awards, all studied at Stockton & Billingham College of Further Education’s Stockton Campus. In September 1996, Clive was awarded the City & Guilds “Using AutoCAD AEC in the Built Environment” certifacate at New College, Durham, and continued on to be awarded the college’s own in-house certificate in Advanced AutoCAD AEC. In 2008, Clive was awarded the Autodesk Certificate of Completion in the “Revit Essentials 2008 Course” delivered by MicroCAD in Darlington.
Clive Elsdon’s experience in the industry covers many areas, with everything from refurbishments to extensions and new build in all the sectors such as;

- Residential Care.
- Automotive Service Garages.
Clive’s experience of the building design process covers feasibility, concept design, planning, detailed design and building regulation submissions through to site supervision and the hand-over of the building to the client or end user.
Using this experience, Clive Elsdon Building Design offer a totally customised service tailored to meet the requirements of individual clients, from carrying out dimensioned surveys which can be presented as a layered CAD drawing file, through providing remote CAD Draughting / Architectural Detailing services for Architects and other building industry professionals up to working directly for an individual client on their own domestic or commercial projects.
When not working on Domestic or Commertial Architectural Projects, Clive enjoys Sailing, and has competed in the Fastnet Yacht Race as a crew memmber on boar a 32′ Yacht, one of the smallest boats allowed to enter the race. Recently, Clive has also trained in the rural craft of Dry Stone Walling, and achieved his Lantra Level 1 (DSWA Innitial) Certificate in 2011, and his Lantra Level 2 (DSWA Intermediate) Certificate more recenly, in May 2012.
